The New Normal 2020

This academic year came with many requirements and protocols. During preparation week, teachers were busy painting, putting up signs and reminders, meeting with parents and planning.

The first day of school was a sight to behold as a sea of masked students listened to all the rules and guidelines for the new academic year. Parents played a major role in preparing their children and ensuring that they set an example.

Present to welcome the students were the Parliamentary representative for Babonneau, Honorable Ezechiel Joseph and the District Education officer, Mr. Cyrus Cepal; both setting a great example from the top.

District One Mock

June 10, 2020 brings a taste of the Common Entrance Exam, just a mock but usually a great benchmark of expected performance.

We wish our students all the best and invite parents to pray for our kids.  The results will will be the fruit of our labour and inform us of what needs to be done to get them better prepared for the actual exam in a few days.

Let us all continue to persevere.

Reaching Out

The Ministry of Education and other non-government organizations, through the school, are making an effort to assist parents and students, in a number of ways. Courtesy of the Ministry, three homes have received Mi-Fi devices to connect to the internet.  Rise St. Lucia generously donated 7 tablets to help selected students access their virtual classes and online resources. Though the feeding program has been interrupted, supplies are being made available for some parents to collect as a means of providing assistance in these difficult times. Massy stores has also given food packages to homes in need.

The principal, staff, students as well as parents welcome the support and thank all those who lend a helping hand. May God bless you all.

Technology; The Villain or Hero?

The Covid-19 pandemic forces an early closure of schools and everyone changed gears from face-to-face to cyberspace. Teachers have been asked to prepare packages for homes to engage those students without access to technology and use whatsapp, Google Classroom, Edmodo, Zoom, Google Meet and any other available medium to revise content covered in terms one and two.

What is Covid-19?

Many are happy to use technology to cope with the present situation, while some hold it responsible for our current situation. In the meantime, parents and students are ask to cooperate with educators and the government to observe social distancing and whatever curfews or measures that have been arranged.

Until we can meet again. Be safe everyone.

Cruising into Poetry – Wave Three

A very timely visit from our cruise ship visitors landed them smack in the middle of a solid line up of poetry in observance of Nobel Laureate Day Celebrations, under the theme “Celebrating Excellence – Vision 2020”.  They feasted on the talents of our youth as well as the local snacks prepared for them.

They were also moved to make a contribution to the school; a gesture of their gratitude and support. They received a trio of thanks from, Keber Edwin(Student Council Vice President), Mrs. Sandy Louisy(Principal of Fond Assau) and Mr. Cyrus Cepal(Education Officer for dIstrict One).

During the morning assembly, the principal took the opportunity to recognize the academic excellence of deserving students.

Later that day, the Kindergarten, Grade One and Two students displayed their athletic abilities through fun sports. January 24th was quite eventful indeed!
